Samkelo Zwane determined to make history with Kaizer Chiefs

Amakhosi were somewhat fortuitous to overcome Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in their semi-final at the weekend and will now face Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates in an eagerly anticipated final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on May 10.

The last time Chiefs won anything of significance was in the 2014/15 season when they scooped both the league and MTN8.

They were also Nedbank Cup runners up in 2019 as they 1-0 to TS Galaxy.

Chiefs are enduring a difficult season in the league, in eighth place with 30 points from 24 games, but have an opportunity to change things, explains Zwane.

He told FARPost: "That's part of [our plans]. We also spoke about it in our players meeting.

"The situation might look bad right now but it's actually an opportunity to change things, to make history. Imagine us after 10 years we are the ones that win a trophy at Kaizer Chiefs. That would be a great thing to achieve as a player."

Zwane added: "We have discussions of where we are on the table as players. We all understand what we need to do. But right now, we are taking one game at a time."
