CAF issues fines for Champions League semi-final chaos
Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have both been fined by the Confederation of African Football.
A controversial second-half goal at the weekend condemned the Brazilians to defeat ahead of their CAF Champions League semi-final first leg with Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
Sundowns pretty much have the Betway Premiership wrapped up, in first place on the league standings with 58 points from 23 games, 12 points clear or Orlando Pirates, although having played three games more.
They did, however, missed out on the MTN8 after losing 2-0 to Stellenbosch over two legs and were Carling Knockout Cup runners-up with a 2-1 defeat to Magesi.
The Brazilians next play host to reigning African champions Al Ahly at Loftus on Saturday and hope to take one step closer to reaching their first Champions League final in nine years.
The Bafana attacker said on FARPost: "Every match, the motivation is still the same.
"The mood is still good in camp, and for us as a team, we need to focus on one game at a time, especially after the past weekend.
"There's always the opportunity to play another cup, another league match. Whatever happens, happens. It's things we cannot control. But yeah, we'll keep on pushing until the end."
Rayners added: "I came to Sundowns to win trophies and to compete in every competition. Playing at Sundowns, especially even this weekend's game, is a big game because we need to go to the final."
