Orlando Pirates: Jose Riveiro will leave at the end of the season

The Spaniard, who originally signed a three-year deal, has officially informed the club that he will not be renewing his contract upon its expiry.

Since arriving at the Soweto giants, Riveiro has led the team to five domestic titles, cementing his place in the club's history. His ability to deliver silverware has made him a fan favourite, and his departure will undoubtedly leave a significant void.

Despite the impending exit, Riveiro remains focused on the task at hand, with Orlando Pirates still actively competing in multiple competitions.

The club are vying for the league title, chasing further glory in the Nedbank Cup, and aiming for continental success in the CAF Champions League.

"His professionalism and commitment to the Club's best interests prompted a timely announcement, ensuring business as usual for the remainder of the season while simultaneously creating an opportunity for the Club to prepare for the future," a club statement read.

"In accordance with the coach's wishes, the Club will refrain from making detailed pronouncements at this time, reserving comprehensive tributes for a more appropriate occasion."

The Buccaneers recently took a crucial step forward in their Champions League campaign, securing a 1-0 victory over MC Alger in the first leg of the quarter-finals.
