Arthur Zwane believes AmaZulu could have secured third place earlier
AmaZulu FC head coach Arthur Zwane believes it's up to the team to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
Simba battled hard in the second leg of their quarter-final clash against Al Masry, winning 2-0 at home to level the aggregate score at 2-2, following a 2-0 loss in the first leg.
The tie was eventually decided by penalties, where goalkeeper Moussa Camara emerged as the hero by saving two spot-kicks to seal a 4-1 shootout win in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday.
Davids was quick to highlight the crucial role played by goalkeeper coach Wayne Sandilands, whose detailed analysis of Al Masry's penalty takers helped Camara make the decisive saves.
"The work behind the scenes - the medical team, the players carrying injuries - it's not always visible because we don't speak about it publicly, but it's massive," Davids told FarPost after the match.
"The analysis from the goalkeeper coach [Wayne Sandilands], studying each penalty to provide Camara with the right information, was critical. Often, we only credit the players or the head coach, but this time, the entire technical team deserves huge recognition for this qualification."
Davids and his Simba charges now shift their focus to the semi-finals, where they will meet Stellenbosch FC from his native country South Africa.
