Phuti Mohafe pleased with win despite slow tempo against Chippa

However, he remains pleased with the 1-0 victory, secured by Ndamulelo Maphangule's first-half strike.

Speaking to the media after the match, Mohafe acknowledged that the playing surface influenced their tempo, but stressed that his team must learn to adapt.

"We played in a slow tempo the whole game, I think it has to do with the heavy pitch. But that shouldn't be an excuse because we sometimes train on a heavy pitch," said Mohafe.

"I think the slowness that we went into brought the opponents into the match, and we invited pressure by doing so."

Despite the challenges, he was satisfied that his side got the goal at a crucial moment before half-time.

Polokwane City have now won three consecutive league matches, all with a 1-0 scoreline. While the defensive solidity has been impressive, Mohafe is concerned about the lack of goals.

"That is a worrying factor because we can score one, and when the other team scores two, it is going to be a problem for us," he admitted.

"What is helping us is our resolute defending. We are so tight at the back, and even the way we transition from defence to attack is also helping us."

Polokwane City continue to impress in the Betway Premiership, currently sitting third on the log with 28 points from 15 games.

They trail second-placed Orlando Pirates by just two points, although Pirates have played three fewer matches. Mamelodi Sundowns remain top, holding an eight-point lead after 13 matches.

With the club's strong defensive structure, Mohafe will be hoping his side can find more goals to maintain their top-three position in the league.
