Eintracht Frankfurt announce partnership with Accra Lions FC in Ghana
German Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt has announced a partnership with Ghana Premier League team Accra Lions FC, starting in June 2025.
After getting knocked out of the German Cup in embarrassing fashion in midweek, the Bundesliga is Leverkusen's last hope of silverware this season and even that is a long shot with them being six points behind Bayern Munich.
However, they did just enough to keep pace with their Bundesliga title rivals after Buendia managed to score a stunning long-range effort in stoppage time to secure a narrow win.
Leverkusen looked out of sorts all game and will have been delighted to have snuck the victory late on. "We didn't play a good game at all... It was difficult today – at the end we needed a bit of luck," admitted defender Jonathan Tah.
Elsewhere in the Bundesliga on Saturday, Dortmund ran out resounding 4-1 winners over SC Freiburg with goals from Karim Adeyemi (34'), Carney Chukwuemeka (51'), Serhou Guirassy (68') and Jamie Gittens (78') overshadowing the consolation effort by Maximillian Eggestein (81') late on.
Werder Bremen beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 courtesy of strikes from Oliver Burke (28') and Romano Schmid (84') while goals from Alexander Bernhardsson (34') and Nelson Weiper (75') cancelled each other out in the 1-1 draw between Mainz and Holstein Kiel.
An Ermedin Dermirovic hat-trick was complimented by another goal from Jeff Chadot as Stuttgart thrashed VfL Bochum 4-0 and RB Leipzig cruised to a comfortable 3-1 win over 10-man Hoffenheim after Leo Ostigard was sent off in the 28th minute. Tom Bishoff (11') scored the solitary goal for Hoffenheim while Benjamin Sesko (24'), Ridie Baku (43') and Yussuf Poulsen (84') turned the screws for Leipzig.
