Betway Premiership preview wrap: Marumo Gallants go head-to-head with Golden Arrows

Marumo Gallants v Golden Arrows

Gallants have displayed commendable resilience in their efforts to avoid relegation, going unbeaten in their last three league outings. Currently occupying 12th position on the table, the Free State-based club has shown significant improvement in recent weeks.

Their recent form includes back-to-back victories over Cape Town City and TS Galaxy, followed by a hard-fought 1-1 draw against a strong SuperSport United side-results that have injected much-needed momentum into their survival campaign.

Golden Arrows, meanwhile, sit 10th on the standings and have also demonstrated solid form of late. The Durban-based outfit has gone two matches without defeat, including a notable 2-1 win over Kaizer Chiefs and a goalless draw against Chippa United.

Sekhukhune United v Polokwane City

Sekhukhune United and Polokwane City are set to clash in a highly anticipated Limpopo derby at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

Sekhukhune United currently occupy fourth place in the league standings, while Polokwane City sit just two positions below in sixth. With both sides vying for a top-three finish, the fixture carries significant implications for the final stages of the campaign.

Babina Noko remain firmly in the race for a CAF competition spot and will be determined to secure maximum points, as they trail third-placed Stellenbosch by a single point. Their most recent league outing saw them claim a morale-boosting 2-1 away victory over Cape Town City-offering some redemption after a narrow Nedbank Cup quarterfinal defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Polokwane City, meanwhile, are also in contention for a top-three finish, sitting four points behind Stellenbosch with 34 points from 24 matches. However, their recent form in the Betway Premiership has been underwhelming.

The Rise and Shine have managed only one victory in their last nine league matches, drawing three and losing five. Their most recent result - a 1-0 home defeat to Orlando Pirates extended a frustrating run of form and marked their third loss in four games. The result also denied them a first home win over Pirates since 2014.

With both clubs aiming to keep their continental aspirations alive, Sunday's derby promises to be a fiercely contested affair with high stakes and local pride on the line.

Magesi FC v TS Galaxy

Magesi FC will be gunning for a reord fourth consecutive win when host TS Galaxy at Seshego Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Magesi have claimed victory in six of their last nine league matches, a streak that includes three consecutive 1-0 wins, capped by a notable triumph over Stellenbosch on 29 March. That result propelled them to 11th place on the table, three points clear of the promotion/relegation play-off position.

Meanwhile, TS Galaxy continue their pursuit of a CAF competition berth under the leadership of Adnan Beganovic. The Rockets have enjoyed a strong campaign since Beganovic succeeded Sead Ramovic in November, suffering just three defeats during his tenure to date.

Galaxy went unbeaten in their first 11 matches under Beganovic, with the run only ending at the hands of the Maroons. In their last five league outings, they have secured eight points, including a valuable 1-1 draw with Kaizer Chiefs on 5 April-a result that kept their hopes of a top-three finish alive. Galaxy currently sit fifth, just two points behind third-placed Stellenbosch.
