Arthur Zwane believes AmaZulu could have secured third place earlier
AmaZulu FC head coach Arthur Zwane believes it's up to the team to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
Usuthu went into the break on a three-game winless run, suffering two defeats and managing just one draw. In those matches, they scored only once while conceding four goals.
To sharpen their attacking play, AmaZulu played a friendly match against Motsepe Foundation Championship side Durban City last Saturday, securing a 2-1 victory.
Motshwari believes the team is making strides in the right direction and will return stronger when the league resumes.
"It was crucial to use this break to refine our approach in the final third. We're one of the best teams when it comes to final third entries, but now we need to focus on converting those chances into goals," he told the club's media.
"This week has been about fine-tuning our finishing and making the most of the opportunities we create. There's always room for improvement, but I'm confident we'll come back stronger against Chippa United."
With a crucial clash against Chippa United set for March 29 at Buffalo City Municipality Stadium, the 34-year-old former Orlando Pirates midfielder insists that the team remains confident in achieving its objectives.
He added: "The morale in the squad is high. We've only lost two games back-to-back, and it's not a crisis. Our targets are still within reach—we just need to stay focused and execute our game plan."
Despite being one of the most creative teams in the league, AmaZulu have struggled defensively, scoring 26 goals but conceding 30—the second-worst defensive record in the league.
