Arne Slot praises Trent Alexander-Arnold's 'commitment' amid injury return and contract uncertainty

However, Slot once again declined to provide any clarity regarding the defender's contractual future.

Alexander-Arnold has not featured since February, and while Liverpool recently announced contract extensions for senior figures Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, the England international has yet to commit to a new deal. His current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, with sources indicating that Real Madrid remain "very confident" of securing his signature.

Despite the speculation, Slot emphasized that Alexander-Arnold's focus remains firmly on helping Liverpool pursue the Premier League title, which could be secured as early as this weekend.

When asked about the defender's future during a press briefing, Slot remained consistent in his messaging.

"I think it would surprise you if I gave a different answer now than I have throughout the season," he said. "It's positive that we've been able to announce two important renewals already, and those can certainly be discussed at length. But when it comes to Trent, the answer remains the same."

Slot reiterated the club's policy of not commenting publicly on ongoing contract discussions until they are formally concluded.

"We don't speak about these matters unless they are finalised, and this one isn't," he stated. "So, for that reason, we won't comment on the situation at this time."

Turning to Alexander-Arnold's fitness, Slot expressed his admiration for the full-back's determination to return ahead of schedule and contribute to the team's objectives.

"Trent has returned to training and continues to demonstrate his commitment every time he steps on the pitch," he said. "He has worked exceptionally hard during his rehabilitation, and his attitude reflects just how invested he is in helping us achieve our goals this season."

Slot also praised Alexander-Arnold's long-standing influence at the club, describing him as a player of exceptional quality.

"Anyone who has followed Liverpool or English football in recent years understands the calibre of player he is," he added. "He has been a remarkable full-back for this club. As for the future, time will tell."

As Liverpool prepare for a critical match that could decide the title race, all eyes will be on whether Alexander-Arnold is deemed fit enough to make his return—and what developments may follow regarding his long-term future at Anfield.
