Man City splash the cash in January as other Premier League clubs lag behind

The bulk of this season's spending came from Manchester City, who splashed 180m pounds - nearly as much as the other 19 clubs combined.

City's aggressive approach in the market was driven by their need to revive their season following a lacklustre first half.

Their spending ranks as the second-highest ever in a winter window, trailing only Chelsea's record 275m spree in 2023.

However, this window's total outlay still falls well short of the all-time record 815m pounds set in 2023.

In an effort to strengthen their squad, City secured the signings of Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt for 59m, Vitor Reis from Palmeiras for 29.6m, and Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens for 33.6m.

They also activated the 50m release clause of Nico Gonzalez from FC Porto.

This is City's most expensive winter window ever, though it still falls short of their 225m summer spending spree in 2017.
