Luis Diaz signals Barcelona move as Liverpool face fight to keep star winger

Barcelona have expressed a strong interest in Diaz, who has been a key player since his transfer from Porto for 37 million pounds in January 2022.

Diaz's contributions have not gone unnoticed, securing his place as a first-choice winger under both Jurgen Klopp and now Arne Slot. Despite being contracted until 2027, the pull of Barcelona seems irresistible to Diaz.

Antena 2 reported that Barcelona are set to offer 70 million euros for Diaz come June, and they have already communicated this intent to Liverpool.

Sources close to Diaz told Deco, Barcelona's Sporting Director, that the 28-year-old sees a move to Spain favorably. In response, Diaz has indicated to Liverpool that he will not commit to a new contract unless it reflects his significant impact on the team.

The uncertainty doesn't end with Diaz. Darwin Nunez's future at Anfield is also under speculation. Interest from Manchester United and the Saudi Pro League, particularly from Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr, has been noted.

However, no concrete bids have been made yet. Al-Ittihad might consider Nunez in 2025, but only if they can adjust their foreign player quota by moving Karim Benzema. Liverpool, however, are not desperate to sell Nunez and haven't set a price tag.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's transfer strategy looks to bolster their squad. They have their eyes set on VfB Stuttgart's Angelo Stiller for a defensive midfield role, with scouts impressed by the 23-year-old's performances. A transfer fee of around 40 million euros might be on the cards for Stiller.

The left-back position is another area Liverpool aims to strengthen, with Alphonso Davies' agent reportedly in talks for a potential move to Anfield. Davies, whose contract with Bayern Munich ends this season, has attracted interest from several top clubs including Manchester United, Manchester City, and Real Madrid, with negotiations ongoing.

Adding to the transfer saga, Trent Alexander-Arnold's tenure at Liverpool seems to be nearing its end, with the right-back reportedly eager to join Real Madrid.

Madrid's previous bid was rejected, but they are poised to make another offer, potentially testing Liverpool's resolve amidst a title chase. Losing Alexander-Arnold mid-season could impact their Premier League campaign, but allowing him to leave as a free agent would be a significant loss.

As Liverpool navigates these complex transfer waters, the decisions made now could shape their squad for seasons to come, balancing immediate competitiveness with long-term planning.
