Injury forces Gerald Coetzee out of SA20, remains in contention for Champions Trophy

However, the seamer remains in contention for selection for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan.

Coetzee will be closely monitored by the Proteas medical team, with a decision on his inclusion to be made within the first week of February.

The injury was confirmed by his Betway SA20 franchise, the Joburg Super Kings, on Sunday.

"Joburg Super Kings fast bowler Gerald Coetzee has sustained a left hamstring strain and will take no further part in Betway SA20. Coetzee last played against Durban's Super Giants on the 14th of January," read their statement.

"The 24-year-old will undergo further medical assessments and rehabilitation."

The 2025 Champions Trophy starts on 19 February in Pakistan. The Proteas' first fixture is against Afghanistan on 21 February.
