Bayer Leverkusen's late heroics seal DFB-Pokal semi-final spot
Bayer Leverkusen staged a dramatic comeback to overcome 1. FC Koln 3-2 in the DFB-Pokal quarter-finals, securing their place in the semi-finals with a last-gasp victory.
Despite a few minor health setbacks, the squad are largely fit and ready, according to head coach Vincent Kompany.
Kompany revealed at the pre-match press conference that while two players are dealing with minor colds, the rest of the team are in top form. "It's looking good. I hope the question of why someone isn't playing will come up more often.
"That'll mean we have a full squad. We now have a large, fit squad in training. I'm looking forward to the games because the guys are in good form," he said.
Alphonso Davies remains the only significant absentee from the lineup. "Apart from Alphonso Davies, we don't have any major absentees. We have two players with minor colds, we still have to wait and see there.
"Basically, the squad is fit. Leon Goretzka is back," Kompany added.
The match against Bremen is crucial as it precedes Bayern Munich's upcoming Champions League knockout play-off against Celtic.
However, Kompany emphasized the focus remains solely on the immediate challenge. "They're certainly different in terms of their setup. We're only focused on Bremen. We can only win one game tomorrow, against Bremen. That has absolute priority.
"They're very good away from home. There are no easy games in the Bundesliga," he noted.
This game is pivotal not just for maintaining momentum in the Bundesliga but also for setting the tone ahead of their European campaign.
With a nearly full-strength squad, Bayern Munich are poised to take on Werder Bremen with all guns blazing.
