Barcelona's stadium dilemma, Montjuic or Camp Nou?

This request covers matches in the Champions League, La Liga, and the Copa del Rey.

In a recent statement, the club emphasized their long-term goal of returning to Camp Nou once renovations are complete.

However, it's widely acknowledged that these renovations are significantly behind schedule.

Joan Laporta, the club's president, has said, "The extension of our use of the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium (Montjuic Olympic Stadium) until 20 May is crucial, yet our ambition remains to play at Spotify Camp Nou this season."

The internal debate within the club has been intense, with some voices advocating for a cautious approach, suggesting that rushing the Camp Nou's reopening might not be in the best interest of the club. This view is gaining traction, with many believing that matches might not return to Camp Nou until next season.

The club's statement further elaborated: "Barcelona has learned that the booking of the venue by BSM for a music event after May is likely to be cancelled, which could allow us to host our final La Liga match at the Olympic Stadium."

The statement concluded with a reaffirmation of their primary objective: "The Club wants to underline that the main goal is to contest matches at Spotify Camp Nou towards the end of this season, and efforts will be intensified to achieve this."

As the season progresses, it will become clearer how these developments will impact Barcelona's home fixtures, but for now, the Montjuic Stadium seems set to remain their temporary fortress.
