Report: Liverpool launch move for Lille's goal machine Jonathan David

The Reds are gearing up for a blockbuster move as the Canadian international's contract winds down in France.

David has been a revelation for Lille once again this season, bagging 23 goals so far. That haul follows back-to-back campaigns of 26 goals, cementing his reputation as one of Europe's deadliest forwards.

With his deal expiring at the end of the term, clubs across the continent are circling, and Liverpool have emerged as serious players in the race.

According to Empire of the Kop, the Merseyside giants see David as the perfect fit to shake up their forward line. Manager Arne Slot has said the 25-year-old is an "ideal addition" to refresh the squad's attacking options, especially with David outscoring every Liverpool forward except Mohamed Salah this season. The stats back up the hype, and Slot's clearly keen to add that firepower to his ranks.

But Liverpool aren't alone in the chase. Manchester United, Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle, and West Ham have all shown interest in the Lille star, per multiple reports.

Arsenal and Chelsea have gathered intel on him, while Manchester City have also joined the hunt. Posts on X, confirm Newcastle have recently stepped up their pursuit too, making this a fiercely contested transfer battle.

Liverpool's perch atop the Premier League could give them the edge, especially if they offload Darwin Nunez or Diogo Jota. Reports have hinted both strikers might depart Anfield, freeing up space for David to slot in.

Slot has said he's "happy" with Nunez and Jota's contributions, but he dodged questions about their futures at a recent press conference, joking he was just glad to escape the usual grilling about Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, and Salah.

Speaking of Alexander-Arnold, the Reds are bracing for his likely exit to Real Madrid. Former Liverpool midfielder Jan Molby has said the right-back might not fancy "what's next" under Slot, hinting at a shift in the club's direction. 

But Liverpool could hit back at Real with a cheeky move of their own, reports suggest they've got a bid ready for Real's dazzling winger Rodrygo to turn the tables.

Elsewhere, Arsenal reckon their top target, Newcastle's Alexander Isak, might prefer a switch to Anfield instead. That twist could see Liverpool swoop for two elite forwards, though Newcastle's interest in Reds midfielder Harvey Elliott seems dead in the water, sources say the Magpies won't pay up the 40 to 50 million pounds asking price.
