Thulani Gumede fires Richards Bay to victory over Cape Town City
Richards Bay secured a vital 1–0 victory over Cape Town City on Friday evening in the Betway Premiership, courtesy of a stunning strike from Thulani Gumede.
Peral took over from sacked Muhsin Ertugral with the team struggling at the wrong end of the league standings.
After 24 games, the Citizens find themselves in 14th place with just 24 points, two clear of SuperSport in 15th place, and ahead of the suspended Royal AM.
Peral has just six games to save his side's season and took positives from the SuperSport stalemate.
He said in the Sowetan: "We need wins to get out of the situation that we're in, but we were playing away to a good team.
"A point away from home, considering how many goals we've been conceding away from home this season, I think it's 20.
"We take the point and we go back home and see what we can do there."
The coach added: "Yes, the point doesn't help our situation, we know we need three points, but these guys [SuperSport] are direct competitors in the relegation zone, so if you go and lose a game against them, they get ahead of you, so we needed to find a balance."
City next play Sekhukhune United in the league on Sunday.
