Robert Lewandowski equals Cristiano Ronaldo's Champions League penalty record

The match, held in Lisbon, was an electrifying nine-goal encounter that saw the teams trade blows throughout.

Lewandowski's brace, both from the penalty spot, took his Champions League penalty tally to 19, equalling the all-time record set by Cristiano Ronaldo.

His two goals also moved him past Lionel Messi's 18 successful spot-kicks in the competition.

Lewandowski now sits third on the all-time Champions League goalscorers list with 103 goals, behind only Ronaldo (140) and Messi (129).

Despite Barcelona finding themselves 3-1 down at half-time, they mounted a strong comeback after Raphinha's goal in the 61st minute.

However, Benfica briefly restored their two-goal advantage with an own goal by Barcelona's Ronald Araujo.

The Catalans responded by scoring three times in the final 15 minutes, completing a remarkable comeback to seal the win.

In addition to Lewandowski's brace, Raphinha also scored twice, and Eric Garcia was on target.
